visit from Masconomet High School students

A group of Masconomet High School freshmen and seniors recently visited the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, presenting Dr. Thomas Abrams and Dr. Wolfram Goessling with a $37,000 check for the Liver Cancer Fund.  The students helped to plan and take part in an annual community fundraising event, the "Masco in Motion" walk, which they dedicated this year to a member of the Masconomet HS community with intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma.

After their tour at the DFCI, the students came to visit Wolfram's lab so they could see liver research in action!  We showed them some zebrafish lines from our satellite facility, talked about the importance of the zebrafish embryo, and made great connections between liver development and cancer treatments.  The students were very enthusiastic and we were thrilled to help them feel a personal connection to the scientific research community here in Boston!
